UX Testing & Rapid Prototyping

For two years, I collaborated with brilliant agile team to manage a Design System that supported ANZ’s Banker Workbench. This DS was built to speed up the development of internal software that over 5,000 frontline staff used every day.

I did rapid prototyping using React that was then used by our dedicated UX Researchers to conduct user testing, which the informed us on what components should be added to the Design System.

The fast-paced nature of rapid protyping sometimes meant I had to make last-minute changes between or right before user testing sessions. The thrill of then seeing the UX Researchers conducting sessions and people completing tasks using the prototype I had just been working on minutes before was very fulfilling. I also really valued the opportunity to learn about best UX and UI practices from sitting next to and talking with highly experienced researchers each day.

Following regular governance sessions, I would build or update components in the BWB Design System, conduct regression testing, and support client teams to incorporate those changes.

I also worked on ANZ’s A-Z application, which was used by ANZ bankers to assess a customer’s financial position and recommend which products would be a good fit for their current situation.

Teamwork

At one stage, a client team, faced with limited resources of a Front End skillset, decided that they would be unable to carry out the design reccomended by the UX Designers. From my time building the BWB prototype, I was confident that I could build the required design while working within the contraints, so I joined their team for a couple months to close the skill gap and complete the work. It was really satisifying to be able to use my experience to help out their team complete building the the updated User Interface and I really enjoyed getting to know the team members.
